One Love

IDAHO (the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia) was celebrated in Croydon under the banner "One Love" on 17th May 2014. See also our IDAHO 2014 page which also has photographs of the event and links to the CAGS' press releases.

The event, from 11 am to 2pm in the pedestrianised area of North End, central Croydon (opposite the Whitgift Centre entrance), included stalls for eight LGBT organisations and eight churches, to overcome the widespread view that it is the churches who promote homophobia.

Music was provided by Rainbow Singers Across Borders and the Endurance Steel Orchestra, and the Friends of Dorothy Society of Bell Ringers (FODS) rang a quarter peal at Croydon Minster.

The event was sponsored by Croydon Area Gay Society (CAGS) with additional financial support from The Regeneration Project. Thanks to Croydon Unitarians for the loan of tables for the stalls.
