To raise awareness about Hate Crime and to mark IDAHO 2012, Merton LGBT Forum have organised a screening of the movie The Laramie Project, an award-winning drama from HBO set in the Wyoming town of Laramie that looks at the impact on a small community of the hate crime motivated murder of a gay student, Matthew Shepard.
The film screening will be preceded by short presentations from Merton residents who have been victims of hate crime themselves on how it has impacted their lives. Police Officers from Merton's Community Safety Unit will also be on hand to provide information and offer advice on hate crime reporting.
